Confession: I have a lot of baking chips in my pantry.
Oh, don’t be judging.
I scored big at Safeway and paid $1 per bag of semisweet and milk chocolate chips. For a baking enthusiast, with the holidays just around the corner, that’s a price I couldn’t pass up. It would be like a sin or something.
Anyway, I have 14 bags of various types of chocolate/baking chips, but nary a mini chocolate chip in sight. Obviously, there are more important problems in the world, but, I just so happen to need mini chocolate chips for one of the treats I’m making for Craig’s co workers tomorrow.
It’s no biggie, really. Especially since there is a conveniently located grocery store in the same shopping center as my gym. So after my workout, I skipped through the parking lot, focused on my quest to procure mini chocolate chips. Um, it didn’t go so well. I believe it’s called a mini chip fail. Evidently that grocery store doesn’t feel the need to carry mini chocolate chips, despite the apparent demand. They have regular chips, chunks, butterscotch, white chocolate, Heath bits, bittersweet, grain sweetened carob chips (wha?!) and artificial flavored chocolate chips (double wha?!), but no mini chips.
So, I had to do it. I had to go to the commiscary.
It was a quick trip, which suited me just fine.
I bought a bag of these, too.
To go with this lovely gem, the honeycrisp apple.
They make a lovely pair, no?
Forgive me, I had to do it.
I love when food smiles at me.
It makes my life seem less pathetic.
I haven’t anyone to talk to during the day; the people on the radio don’t talk back when I holler, so it’s nice when my food speaks to me. It makes me feel special.
Okay, back to my baking. I believe melting chocolate and caramel for drizzling purposes is next on the agenda.
