Surplus of Grapes

Soccer was canceled today.  Again.

The rain we had from Wednesday to Friday morning water logged the fields again, rendering them unplayable.   Caroline’s team has played two games so far; at this rate, they’ll be holding make up games through Christmas.

It’s a shame the fields are in such bad condition, because it’s a beautiful day.  Breezy, sunny, cool.  Perfect fall weather.  Perfect soccer conditions.

Hopefully the game their scheduled for tomorrow ( a make up from an earlier cancellation) will go on as planned.

I was snack person for today’s game.  As a general rule, we provide a half time snack of fruit and a post game drink/goodie.  Thankfully the post game goodies are non perishable, but I now have twelve baggies of grapes in my refrigerator.  It’s a good thing I like grapes.

Instead of playing soccer, Caroline and her friend are out raking leaves in the community area.

It always makes me laugh when the girls voluntarily rake leaves each fall, without complaint.  But, if I were to ask Caroline to do some sort of yardwork chore at our own house, she’d come up with a million excuses as to why she shouldn’t.  Thankfully, we live in a townhome with limited landscaping; yardwork is practically unheard of.

I can’t say that I blame her.  I don’t really like to be told what to do, either.

Let’s face it, manual labor is much more fun when it’s done on your own timetable.

Playing with sharp, pointy objects isn’t half bad, either.

Do you like the bag hanging system they fashioned out of purple yarn?

I have to give them points for creativity.

Happy Saturday, everyone!
